Turkey Creek Dr Jac’s Pence O’Dee (Pence) is out of CH DR Jac’s Redneck Rampage SR69349309 and Granmars Sweet Dreams SR63284509. His bloodline is from frozen semen from DC AFC M C Brett Jared O’Dee. Pence is an exceptional Gundog and proven stud, admired for both his performance and presence. His confirmation is excellent, with a well-balanced frame and a refined head and muzzle that consistently draw compliments. His calm, friendly temperament adds to his appeal—not just as a working dog, but as a companion. Over the years, these standout traits have been reliably passed down to his offspring, reinforcing the strength and consistency of his lineage. Pence combines intense hunting drive with a disciplined, methodical approach in the field. He quarters naturally and efficiently, staying focused until he locates game. When he goes on point, he’s typically positioned directly over the bird. He is trained to be steady to wing and holds his point until released, making him an ideal role model for developing young dogs. He also works well when running with multiple dogs and it is fun to watch them back him. Pence is, without question, one of the finest retrievers I’ve ever worked with. His determination in locating downed birds is unmatched—he won’t quit until the job is done. What’s truly remarkable is his ability to track a bird in flight, disappearing from view in pursuit, only to reappear minutes later with the bird in his mouth. That kind of drive, instinct, and precision is rare, and it never fails to impress. For more information on Pence see STUD DOGS AVAILABLE section and the Pedigrees section. Turkey Creek O Dee True Grits Ned Peppers Mattie is the daughter of True Grits Lucky Ned Pepper (AKC #SR78883703) and Turkey Creek Big Nose Kate. I had the privilege of hosting True Grits Lucky Ned Pepper in my kennel for several summers to support my guiding work. Ned’s lineage traces back to DC AFC Brett Jared O’Dee, a distinguished sire whose legacy was preserved through frozen semen. From the outset, Ned proved himself a natural field producer. Hunters consistently praised his intense drive to hunt, his ability to quarter the field with precision, and his instinctive talent for locating, locking up, and holding point—steady to wing. His retrieving skills were truly exceptional—something you had to witness firsthand to fully appreciate. More than once, I was asked whether I planned to breed him, a testament to the impression he left on everyone who saw him work. True Grits Lucky Ned Pepper was bred to my top-producing dam, Turkey Creek Big Nose Kate. Kate was a standout in the field—an exceptional Gundog with all the traits hunters prize: drive, intelligence, biddability, and a natural point. Her pedigree traces back to Nolen’s Last Bullet, one of the most prolific and respected sires in the breed’s history. Turkey Creek O Dee True Grits Ned Peppers Mattie, whelped on November 19, 2025, quickly proved that the pairing of True Grits Lucky Ned Pepper and Turkey Creek Big Nose Kate was a winning combination. From an early age, Mattie displayed a strong natural drive to hunt and a competitive spirit that stood out among seasoned Gundogs in the field. Mattie’s instincts came alive during two western hunting trips, where she quickly refined her skills in searching, locating, pointing, and retrieving. Her early performance is a clear reflection of the strength behind her pedigree and her natural aptitude in the field. We’re excited about her future as a reliable and promising breeding female for the Turkey Creek Kennel program. Kate is out of one of our previous stud dogs Turkey Creek Jack Flash SR34122003 and TKC’s Rocket Ginger Dandy SR65421701. Kate was one of my best Dams and Gundogs. She was truly a pleasure to hunt with. She had a genuinely nice temperament. In the field she was obedient and responsive. Kate weighed in at 35 pounds. Her hunting style was deliberate, and she would not give up on a scent. She would track a bird with her nose to the ground until she found the bird, then lock up and hold point. Kate had an incredibly good nose and could drift bird scent from quite a distance. Once she smelled the scent she would lock up and wait for me before advancing. This was an admirable trait that I enjoyed. Kate is a descendant of the all-time great Nolen’s Last Bullet. Kate produced four exceptionally good litters. Turkey Creek O Dee True Grits Ned Peppers Mattie is currently in our kennel. Kate has been retired to a former puppy customer in Fort Wayne, IN.
